All of our recycled inventory has been tested for both manual and Z-Wave control and is fully functional at the time of shipment. Here is what you can expect when ordering your device:
The Zooz XS Sensor allows you to protect your home discreetly without breaking the bank. When connected to your Z-Wave hub, it will tell you exactly if and when a door or window has been opened.
Attach it to a kitchen cabinet to make sure it's not accessed when it's not supposed to be. Put it on a drawer to safeguard your valuables. Receive instant text/email notifications on your smart phone or laptop so that you’re always kept in the loop, no matter where you are.
Use the sensor to speak to other Z-Wave security devices, like triggering a Z-Wave alarm siren when the backdoor is opened unexpectedly. With features like low-battery alerts and 700 series Z-Wave chip for faster and safer connectivity, the XS Open | Close Sensor is as dependable as it gets.
To add the XS Open | Close Sensor to your Z-Wave network:
1. Use a small flat screwdriver to gently open the sensor’s cover and access the battery. Pull the tab from under the battery to activate the sensor. Don’t close the cover just yet. The LED indicator will start blinking for around 10 seconds once the
sensor is powered.
2. Bring the sensor to the location where you plan to mount it at.
3. Put your Z-Wave gateway controller into inclusion/pairing mode.
4. Scan the QR code or enter the PIN code located on the back of the battery cover if your hub supports SmartStart S2 inclusion.
5. Click the Z-Wave button on the sensor 3 TIMES QUICKLY. The LED indicator will flash quickly.
6. A new open/close (door/window) sensor will appear on your controller’s device list.
After successfully including the sensor into your Z-Wave network, use the supplied adhesive tape to mount it so that the sensor is fixed to the moving part and the magnet is fixed to the window / door frame.
If installing the sensor outdoors, please make sure to insert the sensor to the waterproof case (sold separately) and mount the case using the supplied mounting screws.
NOTE: Make sure the orientation marks are facing each other, and the gap between sensor and magnet does NOT exceed 0.25” when the device is in the closed position.
NOTE: If you don't see your Z-Wave controller on the list above, please contact us before you purchase this product.
Zooz 800 Series Z-Wave Plus XS Open | Close Sensor ZSE41 Users Manual (PDF)
The device is immediate to update in home assistant when using the zooz 800 usb. I ordered 11 and they all arrived in a single package very quickly. All items pairs easily. Only 2 were joined unsecured due to distance. Very old house with plaster, metal lath, and concrete blocks used for additions. All things considered these perform surprisingly well for my needs. Looks great and installed easy.
Only one issue. The PIN and QR are on the back of the device. This is covered by the 3m pad used to adhere it to the surface. I noticed this and made labels with the QR code and pin that were stuck inside the face plate. Other than that it s great design. Moving the QR and pin in case they’re needed later would be a good idea. That or take really good notes first lol
I replaced a Ring alarm system with my own setup using SmartThings. I utilized the ZSE41 for all open/close sensors and couldn't be more pleased. Great quality, sleek, thin design, and the battery lasts for months. Hands down the best open/close sensors I've used to date!
I mounted this on a baby gate just to help me make sure we remembered to close it. Small and inconspicuous. Very easy to add to Home Assistant.
If you're using it like this, ust make sure the magnet can't be popped off and, you know, ingested.
I've always been a fan of the Quirky Tripper (Zigbee sensor which is no longer made) because of its relatively small size and sleek design. Although I have a very strong Zigbee mesh with many repeaters, there's a spot at the top of my basement stairs which just wouldn't work. One in 20 times when I closed the door, it wouldn't register the close, which meant that the basement lights wouldn't go on when I opened the door the next time (or, more importantly, when my husband opened the door). I decided to try with a z-wave open/close sensor (I also have a very strong Z-wave mesh). When I unboxed this I was so impressed with how small and elegant it is - the first time I've liked the design of an open/close sensor more than my beloved Trippers. Install was very easy - very clear instructions! I love the perfectly-sized 3m strips. It's been up for 1 1/2 weeks and so far not a single dropped 'close'. I love this little device and if any of my other sensors fail down the road this will be my go to!
I've been using these sensors on all my doors for the last 5 months and its been consistently accurate and quick to report when they are opened and/or left open.
