Z-Box Hub: S2 700 Series Z-Wave Plus Smart Home Hub App and WEB UI Interface

ALL YOU NEED FROM A Z-WAVE HUB:

  • Powerful WEB UI: Add, manage, organize, and adjust your Z-Wave devices any way you need. Group them and sort as needed. Create rooms, sections, and alarm zones. Choose from hundreds of available icons or upload your own to customize the UI and make it truly your own.
  • Intuitive APP: Get the free Z-Box Hub mobile app to control and monitor your devices on the go. Check in from anywhere, anytime if you enable remote access. Run scenes with a click. The app is a companion to the WEB UI so advanced functionality and programming is limited (learn more here).
  • Automation: Enjoy a visual scene building tool that makes sense. No need to figure out multiple add-on apps or hacks, it's all here in one place for you to create both simple and elaborate smart rules. Automate based on device status, time of day, weather, home / away mode, and more.
  • Voice Control: Link your Z-Box Hub to Alexa or Google Home using the FIBARO Smart Home integration. Control your Z-Wave devices with voice commands and bridge them with more smart home technologies available through your smart speaker.
  • DIY Security: Set up your Z-Box Hub like a home security panel with a familiar PIN pad arming and disarming screen, customizable alarm delays, and multiple zone creation. Take charge of your home's safety, without the monthly fees.
  • Interactive Notifications: Stay connected to your loved ones and monitor the activity in your home or office remotely with push or email notifications. Use the unique interactive notifications feature to quickly act on emergencies and enable scenes or devices with a click within the notification window. See how it works here.

    1st time set up

This was my first experience setting up a smart hub. I set it up over wifi on my computer and it was very easy. The only issue I had was initially finding the correct support page to build my first scene. Once I found it though, it was very easy to follow.

    Really like this!

I switched to the Z-Box hub when moving to a new home. I was previously using ST and felt I needed to switch to regain a little more "control" over the platform. When ST switched over to their new API/backend, I had lots of devices and automations that were no longer working. I didn't want to go through that again!

Once I worked through some of the logic and things that aren't quite as intuitive (but not hard) as the ST platform, I really, really like this platform. Every device I have connects and works as intended (so far) without the need for device type handlers, etc. I saw another review about the lack of control of the mobile device, but I like having more control on the computer side and less on the app. Works much better for my wife, as I can just keep what's on her device very simple by her request.

This is a much more powerful setup with a seemingly endless amount of opportunities for automation. Support has been great at helping me work through a device add problem (a very old and uncommon Z-Wave device) and also with a few programming questions. The interactive push notifications are a great feature for my family of 4 that allows a little more manual control. The app features a panel mode that is great for a small android tablet that sits in our living room and allows babysitters, our parents, etc. to have control over the house.

I only have 1 Zigbee device I still want to control and I can manage that with ST and an IFTTT integration.

    Decent, but lacking

Decent hub, but lacking compared to other brands when it comes to control on your mobile device. The app is pretty much just a way to monitor and turn devices on and off.

unable to do from the mobile app ...

    -Remove, edit, or reset devices
    -Program automation rules and scenes
-Add new rooms or sections for your smart home
-Create new alarm zones or notifications
    -Add or remove users
-Access advanced settings for the hub or your devices
-Update firmware for your hub or end devices

Thank you for your honest feedback! Currently a lot of those functions are reserved to the Web UI for a more secure network, however we've passed on your notes to the developers to hopefully implement in the near future.

    Lots of potential but...

So for background I've been using Vera systems for about 7-8 years and got pretty comfortable with them - plus they have almost every imaginable app already built... but with a new home project in the works I decided to upgrade to something a little more current which led me to the Z-box hub.

At first I had a few connection issues and set it aside for a few weeks before really trying again. Once properly setup and updated its been OK. I'm hoping that adding the rest of the switches etc will build out a more reliable "network' to keep everything connected.

The hub has tons of options and truly is customizable - and that is probably my biggest issue so far as the info on how to add external devices (like a MyQ wifi garage door) just isn't there yet.

Overall I'm satisfied with it and think it will be better than my old Vera's once I get used to it and learn enough about it to really utilize it the way I want.
