Zooz Light Switches & Dimmers Frequently Asked Questions
NOTE: If you don't see your Z-Wave controller on the list above, please contact us before you purchase this product.
Please follow the manual carefully and refer to the supplied diagrams when installing your Zooz switches. It's recommended that a licensed electrician performs the installation.
Check for neutral connections BEFORE you buy. A white wire from a 14-3 romex is usually NOT a neutral. Ask us if you're not sure what to look for, we'll be happy to help!
How to include the 800 Series S2 Toggle Dimmer to your smart home hub?
1. Make sure the dimmer is located within range of your Z-Wave network
2. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion/pairing mode
3. Toggle the dimmer up 3 times quickly to finalize the inclusion process
4. A new dimmer switch will appear on your controller's device list
NOTE: Follow an appropriate diagram from the manual to wire the dimmer in a 3-way or 4-way setting with a regular on/off electrical switch if you are looking to control one light with 2 or 3 switches. If you can't match your wiring with any of the diagrams, let us know and we'll walk you through the wiring process.
800 LR version of the switch I have used before. 4/5 because Line and Load are separate so you have to test for them unlike the Enbrightens which have Line-Load detection so its faster to do a bunch. Shipping took forever - it always does.
I've started primarily using zooz devices because of the ease of setup, good documentation, and stability. This dimmer was no exception. Perfectly happy.
My wife and I like the toggle switch style better than the decora style so for the price these cannot be beat. Very few companies make toggle styles switches so I appreciate that Zooz continues to manufacture these. I have a a few 700 and 800 series and they all work very well. Pair with Z-waveJS in Home Assistant without issue and have had no connectivity issues. Plus built in 3-way support for a normal toggle switch is a huge plus and saves on cost.
I have about 30 Zooz devices in my home and I have nothing to complain about... except for a couple things:
1. The top hole that the switch plate screws go into has stripped on 3-4 of the switches I've installed. Once it's stripped, it won't hold any other screws. I can tell because I see a tiny scrap of the thread come out with the screw. It's quite frustrating, and the missing screw looks bad on my plates. I'll have to find a way to cover it with glue or something. At least the bottom screw hole is fine.
2. The front plate of the switches I've installed are a bit too thick for my existing wall plates, and I've had to cut out some of the drywall behind it to inset it. Annoying installation step, not a big deal.
I like these dimmer conceptually, but my wife noted that she missed the tactile feedback of a regular switch and I must agree. However, it is so much more funtional, without needing to swap out the plate or box, so it is a no-brainer. As with everything Zooz makes, it is well made, well supported with documentation, and reliable.
