Before installing, make sure the load does not exceed 960W for incandescent lights, 150W for CFL's and LED's, or 1800W (15A) for resistive load. Check your wiring first to confirm that you have all the following wires present in your gang box: load (most often black), line (most often black), neutral (most often white), and ground (most often green).
If you are not comfortable identifying the wiring and following the instructions, please hire a licensed electrician.
Here are some helpful wiring tips:
How to include the Scene Controller switch to your smart home network?
1. Bring your Z-Wave gateway hub or controller as close to the switch as possible
2. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion/pairing mode
3. Tap the upper paddle of the switch 3 times quickly to finalize the inclusion process
4. A new on/off switch should appear on your controller's device list
NOTE: Use a dedicated diagram from the manual to wire the switch in a 3-way setting with a regular electrical switch if you are looking to control one light with 2 or 3 switches.
Had a lot of features and works great home assistant!
I'm running OpenHab using a Z-station hub. For the Zen32, I have 4 of them put around the garage to control lights, exterior outlets (mostly used for Christmas lights), the air compressor, dust collector, etc. Last count I was using 16 of the possible 35 scenes.
Inclusion wasn't flawless- they ended up needing to be factory reset before they'd include and one included twice.
I've got the hub successfully receiving the state changes and toggling whatever item is desired. By grouping all 4 controllers into a group it's all done with one rule. Next is refining the rule and finishing the build out (some things like the dust collector require a Z-wave relay controlling a heavy duty contactor for the current), and looking at item associations going forward. Associations should let the controllers directly control the switches, so even if the hub is down things will work.
Bottom line: In the few weeks I've had these, I'm happy with them.
The configuration options for each button are almost endless - it boggles the mind to consider all of the possibilities with this device. The color of each button's LED is configurable. Each button supports six different activation styles (single press through 5x press, plus long press)... and more. I bought this to be a simple multi-button countdown timer for a towel warmer, and am already planning to buy more for other scenarios. Expectations exceeded!
I love the scene controller. It's a great addition in strategic locations in my home to allow changing the scene without having to go to a phone or app.
These are the best switches ever. They are great quality, great build, great design, and great price. I bought them so fast I made a mistake and got one black switch. No worries I will just buy a white plate to change the color. Awesome design.
