Check your wiring first to confirm that you have all the following wires present in your gang box: load (most often black), line (most often black), neutral (most often white), and ground (most often green).
If you are not comfortable identifying the wiring and following the instructions, please hire a licensed electrician.
Here are some helpful wiring tips:
How to include the Zooz Heavy Duty switch to your smart home network?
1. Bring your Z-Wave gateway hub or controller as close to the switch as possible
2. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion/pairing mode
3. Scan the SmartStart QR code on the front metal plate of the switch or tap the upper paddle of the switch 3 times quickly to finalize the inclusion process manually
4. A new on/off switch should appear on your controller's device list
NOTE: Use a dedicated diagram from the manual to wire the switch in a 3-way setting with a regular electrical switch if you are looking to control one light with 2 or 3 switches.
I have a heavy duty air cleaner in my workshop that runs off a 1/3 HP squirrel motor. By integrating this with my Vivint home automation which is connected to Amazon Alexa, I plan to have the workshop air cleaned automatically. I have an Amazon Air Quality monitor and using an Echo routine, I should be able to have it trigger the air cleaner switch if the PPM air quality drops below a certain level.
Wasn't sure if The Smartest House would have a switch that could work with a load this big, but their tech support was great - they responded to my email in a few hours, identified the possible product and had me send them a photo of the device label to be sure.
Works like a traditional switch, so its wife approved. Plus all the benefits of a smart switch.
Installed it for a receptacle and have had no issues. The paddle feels VERY satisfying to click. Not yet supported in zwavejs (PR is open for it) which makes configuring the switch a little difficult, but it works regardless.
The switch works great. I did have a little more trouble adding this to Hubitat thatn the other Zooz switches. It wasn't being found until I did a factory reset (which is no big deal and only takes a second. I am ordering three more from The Smartest House.
I've got my 2 master bath fans tucked away with remote fan units in the ducting, makes for a really quiet application. This switch allows me to set to turn off after 30 minutes, meaning the fan (that you can hardly hear) isn't left on for days on end -- just long enough to clear the humidity at the shower and to prevent evidence of beans from last night's dinner ;-)
