    How It Works

Monitor your garage doors for the peace of mind you always wanted. Pair your sensor with the Zooz MultiRelay for a complete smart garage door solution. Always know what's happening on the main entry points to your home.

Watch for shock (strong vibration) on your window glass, sliding doors, and other surfaces to take action when needed. Set alerts for when you're not around so that you're quickly notified of any unusual activity.

This sensor features the highest Z-Wave security level and is backed by a 5-year manufacturer extended warranty which makes it a safe choice for your smart home monitoring needs.

    Installation

To add the XS Tilt | Shock Sensor to your Z-Wave network:

    1. Use the included triangle tool to carefully open the sensor’s cover and access the battery. Pull the tab from under the battery to activate the sensor. Don’t close the cover just yet. The LED indicator will start blinking for around 10 seconds once the
    sensor is powered.
    2. Bring the sensor to the location where you plan to mount it at.
    3. Put your Z-Wave hub into inclusion/pairing mode.
    4. Scan the QR code or enter the PIN code located inside of the battery cover if your hub supports SmartStart S2 inclusion.
    5. Click the Z-Wave button on the sensor 3 TIMES QUICKLY. The LED indicator will flash quickly.
    6. A new open/close and vibration sensor will appear on your controller’s device list.

After successfully including the sensor into your Z-Wave network, use the supplied adhesive tape or mounting bracket to mount it.

    Great for the garage door

I’m using this sensor on my backyard shed lift door. Along with the Home Assistant platform and a Home Assistant Connect ZWA-2 antenna and the Z-Wave JS integration. The sensor works great, as do my other Zooz Z-wave devices. I find that they are not susceptible to the WiFi radio interference from my own and neighbors WiFi and other devices. This 800 series device has a long range and it connects to my homes z-wave network with no problem.

    Work well as usual...

I had 2 of these on my garage doors at another house and now they include a plastic mounting frame that makes battery changes even easier.

A nice update with a few quirks

For the new 800LR version I expected the range to be better, but I'm trying to go through multiple metal walls so my expectations may not be realistic.
The shock sensitivity is amazing (I had to dial it all the way down for my use case). In 3 of 4 setups I had to run the tilt calibration process (hold button for 5 secs) before the tilt sensor would work at all, but once calibrated they were fine.

XS Tilt Sensor - Decent once setup with the right drivers and settings

I bought two for my metal garage doors. Only issues are likely with the cold weather and some sort of interference. Sometimes they do not report the appropriate statuses in Smartthings and both are eating more of the battery power than they should. My hub is not terribly far from the devices, maybe 50 feet, plus a couple of powered z-wave devices a little closer. Hopefully this will improve when I install a z-wave light switch in the garage to bring a powered z-wave device in close proximity to the sensors. However, it seems these are not truly "long-distance" devices considering the natural interference with a metal garage door, unless you want to replace the batteries every month. They otherwise work most of the time.

Thank ou for your feedback! While the ZSE43 sensor supports Z-Wave Long Range, SmartThings does not. Therefore, you have the standard Z-Wave mesh range since the hub does not support long range functionality. Regarding the battery, you will see lower reported battery levels if you lack repeating mesh devices, as the sensor has to utilize more power to report to the hub.
Additionally, while CR2032 batteries can technically operate down to -22F, cold temperatures reduce ion mobility, increasing the batteries' internal resistance and dropping the output voltage. No energy storage is lost, it's just that the energy doesn't get to the device, it dissipates internally. So in cold weather it may stop responding, but once it warms up, it should still operate and respond. The sensor needs a certain amount of voltage from the battery to report, and when that energy is dissipated due to the cold, you get a loss of function until the battery is warmed.
