Before wiring the Double Relay in, check that the load does not exceed 500W for incandescent lights, 150W for LED's, 1/4 hp for fans and motors, or 5A for resistive load per relay. Examine all connections to verify that you have all the necessary wires available in the switch box: load (most often black), line (most often black), neutral (most often white), and ground (most often green).
If you are not comfortable identifying the wiring and following the instructions, please hire a licensed electrician.
Here are some helpful wiring tips:
How to include the Double Relay to your smart home network?
1. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion/pairing mode
2. Click the Z-Wave button on the relay 3 times quickly to finalize the inclusion process (and scan the SmartStart security QR code or enter PIN if prompted)
3. Two new on/off switches and a master device should appear on your controller's device list
Picked up 1 for each of my upstairs ceiling fans, and install was a breeze both physically, and adding to Home Assistant, and now I have control over the fan and lights without needing to find the correct pull chain.
Installed the double relay to control two light zones in my basement office inside a three gang box. The existing switches are of the 0-10V dimmer type and I didn’t want to replace these and associated wring with upgraded switches. After some wire hookup and cramming (good instruction), I was able to independently control on/off functionally of each of the two dimmers via HASS and various automation (through the Z-wave hub on the HASS server). Pairing/inclusion was not a problem and I have excellent connectivity and response. Indeed, I can’t control the dimming but I rarely use it and on/off control is more crucial for me. Recommend, I do.
Works very well after figuring out the wiring for my 3-way switches. Very compact for being able to control 2 different switches
Fast shipment and good product.
Installing these inside the PVC box with the receptacles is a clean and weather resistant way to control landscape lights and fountains.
This is a much better way, in my opinion, than using the external dongle-style plug.
It also seems to have better Z-Wave reception than the dongle.
