    INSTALLATION

Follow the appropriate diagram to wire the Universal Relay according to your application. If you don't see a diagram describing your set-up, please contact us to request help with the installation. Remember to always turn power off at the breaker before handling the wires. Never apply any voltage to the Sw input terminals!

Once you've completed the wiring, power the Universal Relay up with a USB C and a standard power adapter (sold separately) or a direct connection to 12 / 24 V power source.

Now add the Universal Relay to your hub: initiate inclusion (pairing mode) and click the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times quickly. The LED indicator will blink to indicate communication and stay on for 2 seconds to confirm inclusion.

You’ll most likely see 3 new on/off devices in your app:

2 channels for on/off control of each relay
1 master node to control all relays at the same time and to access and adjust advanced settings in (if your hub supports parameter input)

    WORKS WITH

    • Z-Box Hub (recommended for Zooz products)
    • ADT Pulse (no advanced settings)
    • eedomus
    • Ezlo Plus
    • Fibaro Home Center 2
    • Fibaro Home Center Lite
    • Home Assistant (Z-Wave JS)
    • HomeSeer (with Z-Wave Plus plug-in)
    • Homey (Zooz App for HomeyNOTE: creating child devices for inputs is NOT  currently supported.)
    • Hubitat (2.2.6 release or higher)
    • Indigo

Range impressive. Relays work well. Dry contact sensors not so much

I put one of these each inside two separate gate mechanism enclosures to replace a jury-rigged hard wired Arduino setup. The range seems impressive - I had previously tried a Fortrezz MIMOlite which would not work there. You get a lot of functionality - 2 relays and 2 inputs, although I believe the previous ZEN16 version has 3 relays and 3 inputs. For each device, I'm using one of the relays to open/close a gate and the other relay to control landscape lighting. I also have the sensor hooked up to detect whether the gate is open independently of the relay (e.g., it was opened by the radio gate opener).
The relays work perfectly. However I have had a hard time configuring the sensor inputs (I'm using this with ZWave JS and Home Assistant, so it's possible the issue is on that side). I have changed the settings (disabled parameters 10 and 11) and set the terminal input types (parameters 2 and 3) to both 7 (door sensor) and 11 (dry contact), and then excluded the reincluded the devices. Unfortunately after a lot of excluding/including I have only gotten one sensor on one of the devices to work (plus with the door sensor setting I get a few strange sensors like "door is open in tilt position" which seem to go unused. Perhaps the door sensor setting is not meant for a regular dry contact but for a specific type of external sensor, but I don't know because the documentation of these settings seems to be missing. I also wish an exclude/include was not necessary with the sensor configuration changes as it's a major pain to remove the gate housing each time.

Smooth buying process, and a unique pool solution

I plan to use these to automate my garage and pool, and these are a unique solution where the long range capability will really shine.

        Reliable equipment

i’ve had good experience using these. I have about 50 in the field and never had a problem with one.

        ZEN 17

I do like these relays. They have been very reliable and are easy to wire up and use. The only drawback is that to use it in the classical Garade Door with a contact feedback require the user to set it up and the add it back to Home Assistant Z-Wave integration. It is just a nuisance, but that is why I only gave it 4 stars

Thank you for your feedback, Kyle! I wanted to let you know Home Assistant has a re-interview feature, so when you set the parameter to create the new child device, you can simply reinterview the device and have the new child device populated, no need to exclude and reinclude. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
