You need to select the same frequency / region as your hub when buying Z-Wave devices for them to include to your system. If you're not sure which frequency your hub operates on, please contact your solution provider first. Here is what each option stands for:

    • US/CA/MX: 908.42 MHz (used primarily in US, Canada, and Mexico, the default option for all products)

    How It Works

Monitor your garage doors for the peace of mind you always wanted. Pair your sensor with the Zooz MultiRelay for a complete smart garage door solution. Always know what's happening on the main entry points to your home.

Watch for vibration on your window glass, sliding doors, and other surfaces to take action when needed. Set alerts for when you're not around so that you're quickly notified of any unusual activity.

This sensor features the highest Z-Wave security level and is backed by a 5-year manufacturer warranty which makes it a safe choice for your smart home monitoring needs.

    Installation

To add the XS Tilt | Shock Sensor to your Z-Wave network:

    1. Use the included triangle tool to carefully open the sensor’s cover and access the battery. Pull the tab from under the battery to activate the sensor. Don’t close the cover just yet. The LED indicator will start blinking for around 10 seconds once the
    sensor is powered.
    2. Bring the sensor to the location where you plan to mount it at.
    3. Put your Z-Wave hub into inclusion/pairing mode.
    4. Scan the QR code or enter the PIN code located inside of the battery cover if your hub supports SmartStart S2 inclusion.
    5. Click the Z-Wave button on the sensor 3 TIMES QUICKLY. The LED indicator will flash quickly.
    6. A new open/close and vibration sensor will appear on your controller’s device list.

After successfully including the sensor into your Z-Wave network, use the supplied adhesive tape to mount it.

If installing the sensor outdoors, please make sure to insert the sensor to the waterproof case (sold separately) and mount the case using the supplied mounting screws.

    Bad habits
    Initially frustrated, now satisfied

I had issues similar to others - paired fine, in the house near controller, but on garage door it dropped signal. Finally realized it was not the z wave network signal, but instead the proximity to the metal of the garage door. Simple fix: grab a plastic takeout container (4 inches tall worked), screw the lid into garage door, connect base to lid, and attach sensor to base. This small standoff made the sensor quite reliable and fixed connection issues.

Very useful to monitor if I forgot to close my garage door

I have a simple "dumb" garage door opener and sometimes I forget if I closed my garage door for the night or not. I can, of course, point a camera to the door and check it this way, but this inexpensive sensor helps making it a little less cumbersome.
It takes some experimenting to find a good position on a door for it to show "open" even if the door is just a few inches up, but once properly set up and mounted, it works flawlessly.
I deducted one star because it looks like the vibration sensing capability (at least in my sensor) is pretty spotty - I had it randomly showing vibrations even with door closed, no wind outside and no sources of possible external vibration. However this does not impact my use case at all as I only needed tilt sensing, thus I am pretty happy overall.

    Give this one a miss

I had two of these that had intermittent signal problems in an area flooded with signal. My discussion with Zooz support (lifetime support!) felt very much like them trying to prove that my configuration was wrong or that I didn't know what I was doing. After about 10 email exchanges I gave up - no amount of evidence was going to persuade them these are just not very good. Ecolink's seems fine.

We're sorry to hear about the issues you experienced! The environment where a battery powered Z-Wave device is installed can influence the signal strength (locations where there are a lot of metal or glass elements, thick walls, etc.). We are glad to hear that another brand works well for your set-up.

Compact Tilt sensor - Works with openHAB

I purchased a number of new Zooz 700 series sensors to replace old CR123 powered devices from another manufacturer. I love their compact size and the z-wave button makes pairing and waking up the sensor very easy.

At the suggestion of another user, I did update the firmware before including in my network. This tilt sensor is very quick to respond and works perfectly with my openHAB 3.4.0.M6.

    Get the Ecolink instead

I got two of these. One of them works fine, except that it never reports the battery correctly (sometimes it’ll show the correct battery but most of the time it just says 100%. The other one I had to return, as that one always showed an incorrect status, even though I had plenty of zwave plus items nearby. Eventually it just died in me, and a new battery didn’t help. Over the holidays I grabbed an Ecolink and that worked like a charm. It’s bigger, but also has a much bigger battery so I would expect it to last a bit longer. Also the case with Ecolink is much easier to open and close should you want to replace the battery.

We're sorry to hear about the issue with your sensor! It's possible there was a connectivity issue due to the distance from the hub. With the SmartThings transition, we've also seen some configuration issues while the platform is transitioning. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any troubleshooting questions; we're happy to help!
