Here are some helpful installation tips:
How to include the 800 Series Dimmer switch to your smart home network?
1. Bring your Z-Wave gateway hub or controller as close to the switch as possible
2. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion mode
3. Tap the UPPER paddle of the switch 3 times very quickly to finalize the inclusion process
4. A new dimmer (or multilevel switch) device will appear on your controller's device list
NOTE: Use a dedicated diagram from the manual to wire the switch in a 3-way setting with a regular electrical switch if you are looking to control one light with 2 switches. This switch may wire differently in 3-way or 4-way installation than your other Zooz switch.
I have three of these installed to control LED recessed lights, and they’ve been rock-solid. Pairing with Home Assistant (via Z-Wave JS) was effortless, and they were instantly recognized. Out of the box, the dimming speed is on the slower side, but I haven’t adjusted parameters yet — nice that those options exist. For the price (especially on sale), it’s hard to beat the performance and reliability. No flicker, no buzz, and full dimming range with modern LEDs.
IMO, the workhorse of the Zooz smart switch line. I originally used some ZEN71s (non dimming) around my house with the plan of using smart bulbs with them for brightness control, but quickly realized that the ZEN72 was the more flexible option. It can dim "dumb" bulbs but if you want to add smart bulbs later, your can do that too! As the price between the ZEN72 and the ZEN71 is minimally more, select them if you will need dimming either now or in the future. My only "wish" for these (and the ZEN71) would be that the configurable LED color for the status indicator on the face of the switch could be a true white to more closely match the ZEN30 double switch. The white on the ZEN72 and ZEN71 is more like a "light purple" color in comparison to the ZEN30. But that is a minor issue that does not take away anything from the functionality of the ZEN72 itself. As always, Zooz and The Smartest House support is top notch!
The ZEN72 and the other Zooz switches have all been reliable and works perfectly. The switches are well designed and easy to install. Appreciate the thoughtful instructions. I have had great success with using Home Assistant to customize these switches for automations.
Great construction quality and very elianle
I like that these are on the more shallow side compared to similar switches, which helps with box fill a little. The firmware of the switches offers a wide range of customization options, and up to 5x tap events is very useful.
