Here are some helpful installation tips:
How to include the 800 Series Dimmer switch to your smart home network?
1. Bring your Z-Wave gateway hub or controller as close to the switch as possible
2. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion mode
3. Tap the UPPER paddle of the switch 3 times very quickly to finalize the inclusion process
4. A new dimmer (or multilevel switch) device will appear on your controller's device list
NOTE: Use a dedicated diagram from the manual to wire the switch in a 3-way setting with a regular electrical switch if you are looking to control one light with 2 switches. This switch may wire differently in 3-way or 4-way installation than your other Zooz switch.
There's a lot I like about this dimmer:
- The wiring connections are sturdy and professional. They give me total confidence when hooking it up with real 14 gauge wires.
- The build quality is excellent, and includes the ETL certification.
- The dimmer function is well thought out. In particular, the default when turning the device on (either at the switch or from Home Assistant) is to return to the last brightness used. This is great.
- It will handle a 3-way switch arrangement painlessly. This is a challenge with most dimmers.
great instructions. easier to add to smartthings than in the past
Easy to install, doesn't take much more room than a normal switch. Does what it advertises to do.
I had a previous smart home dimmer where I had to disable the second 3-way switch for it all to work. This easily fixed that problem. The wife loves it and wants more around the house. The second switch (ZAC99) unfortunately can only be pressed on the top to turn on/off. But that's fine. You can reprogram it to also only turn on/off using the top part of the paddle. So now it all works the same.
This switch does what it says on the Tin. It took about 10 seconds for my Home Assistant instance to find it (via z wave JS) and it's been working ever since.
