Used this to control my holiday decorations. Worked perfectly. Plug angle can be kinda weird but not big deal
So nice not to have to buy multiple smart plugs for neighboring uses
These are great little units that have proved reliable for me. I have two, and planned on a third, but there is only one problem that can arise in use. That angled plug they add to "help" you. Unfortunately, for most wet-location exterior outlet box covers, they don't have the clearance necessary to accommodate the angle of the plug, especially if you need two on the same outlet. These wet-location covers are the enclosed boxes that are made to allow you to use electrical outlets (keep things plugged in) when it is wet. It would be better in those cases to have a "straight out" format, rather than the "behind-the-bookcase" format provided here. It will work with a box with a watertight flap, but which isn't watertight when these are plugged in and the flap is open. Your outlet receptacles will corrode much faster and is an electrocution hazard.
It would be nice to have the straight-out format available as an option. Also, as I stated in an earlier review of this device, a little longer cord would be extremely helpful as well, perhaps as another optional configuration.
Thank you for your feedback, we'll pass it on to our Zooz engineers!
The unit is outside, but not directly exposed to the elements. I use it to remotely control some additional lighting in my yard. It is responsive, and works reliably with smartthings. I've only had it deployed for about 5 months at this point, so the longevity over a full set of seasons (especially a brutally hot summer) hasn't been tested yet.
This double outdoor plug is somewhat enormous but it's proven to be super reliable since I got it. I also picked up a single plug version.
Not every Zooz product is good but they got this one right.
