I have 4 of them around the house. Each one is a trouble of different kind:
1) it will hog through the batteries - changing it every 2 months in some of them
2) other one emits fake movement events when it is sitting in empty room
3) other just won't trigger on movement until you reset them
4) humidity readings are way off and different on every unit.
Hi Andrew,
We're sorry the sensors haven't worked as expected for you. It sounds like they have not been fully configured or there are network issues preventing the sensors to perform correctly. We recommend checking the power source, your hub's network settings, and configuration on the sensor itself. Batteries should last around 10-12 months with normal use as long as there are no communication issues.
I've gone a bit against the norm with this motion sensor. I use it in an outdoor temporary tent garage to trigger overhead lighting. This was the only sensor I could find that used external USB power with the sensors I wanted, temp/humidity/lux/motion. Although explicitly rated "indoor", it seems to work fine in protected outdoor situations. Despite the temperature being "rated" to barely freezing, it does track much colder temps. (Pushed -15F so far, will see if it fails down to -40F this winter...suspect it'll be just fine.) It was a little tricky for me to mount this to a pole, but was able to get it mounted without any major compromise. It's quite sensitive, I had to turn down the sensitivity to halfway to reduce false triggers. I own pretty much every model of Zooz motion sensors, I'm glad they make slightly difference units with slightly different needs as I've found all of them useful for my various applications.
I actually needed all of the features of this sensor but didn't know there was an all-in-one product. I was about to buy 4 different sensors before I came across this one. It gets the job done at about 1/4 of the price I would have spent. It works amazing as well. Someone said that the motion was slow to respond, but I did not experience that, in fact, it feels almost instant. Now I have to buy 5 more for all of my rooms. I don't need them but they are just so cool!
I have 2 setup in 2 bathrooms to automate lights and exhaust fans. They are very reliable and easy to setup with Home Assistant.
Since I run these off mains power, I have no experience with the battery or performance issues others have mentioned.
Been happy with the few of these that I bought, have them updating once a minute while plugged in and they are working very well.
