How to add the Wall Remote to your Z-Wave home hub?
1. Make sure the device is within range of your Z-Wave network
2. Put your Z-Wave hub in inclusion/pairing mode
3. Tap the top button of the Remote Switch 6 times quickly to finalize the inclusion process (or scan the QR code / enter the 4-digit DSK number printed on the back of the remote if using the new SmartStart method)
4. A new remote control / button controller device will appear on your hub's device list
I have tried to avoid these things and other battery-powered devices as keeping up with batteries can be time annoying. These do last a long time as as they're USB-C rechargeable they're easy to recharge. I think the only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is that the touch on the buttons is a little squishy; they do have a tactile click when pressed fully, but the buttons can be partially pressed without registering.
I have five of these installed in various rooms in my home. They are all connected to my Hubitat hub, and they work flawlessly. The fact that they are rechargeable is a bonus.
This is a perfect add-on to a powerful home automation system! You can stick just the controller on something, use the magnetic mount to have it fit in with your other switches, and best of all it is rechargeable! I *hate* having to replace coin cells in devices - with this you just plug-in a USB-C power source a few times a year for a few hours (depending on usage) and you're good to go. The ONLY reason it is 4-Stars instead of 5-Stars is because of the 12V vulnerability with the recharging. The cord it comes with is too short, so if you use a longer cord and happen to grab an older charger, you can wreck the charging circuitry. If they put in better protection from that, it would be perfect - 5 stars. But as I lost one due to my stupidity with the charger, I have to knock it down one. But I use this and in powered locations the ZEN32 as the perfect companions to my system.
This little wall remote is handy. The form factor resembles a standard wall switch, blending seamlessly into any room. The fact that it is rechargeable is a plus; no coin batteries to chase around. I have several of these installed already, and I am always looking for new applications for this remote.
Easy to install, fit perfectly in a double switch box.
