This sensor is perfect for spot monitoring in spaces where your smart thermostat doesn't reach. Install the device in your bedroom to prepare just the right temperature for the night. Mount it in the basement or on your sun porch to trigger climate control device and keep the air constant where humidity and temperature is most likely to change quickly.
Just stick it to the flat surface of your choice with the supplied adhesive tape for 1-minute installation. We recommend using the dedicated mounting bracket if you'd like to install the sensor outdoors. Always keep the device out of direct sunlight and rain or snow.
I have these in various places to give info to support smarter zone control (radiant floor heating) as well as additional temp sensors for our heat pump (mostly for cooling) mini splits. The mini plits are near the ceiling and don't reflect the temp down below in rooms with high ceilings (15 feet or so. These are great for giving a better idea of actual temps.
Using with Home assistant no issues, as long range zwave, seem to be good battery conservation in this setup so far.
This sensor pairs easily with my Home Assistant ZWA-2, and is basically imperceptible behind our bedroom nightstand. The functionality and integration with Home Assistant is robust and exactly what I expected from a Zooz product. Definitely recommend.
I’ve been very pleased with the Zooz 800 Series Z-Wave Long Range XS Temperature & Humidity Sensor (ZSE44 800LR). Setup was straightforward with my hub, and the device has been reliable in day-to-day use.
I’m primarily using these in bathrooms and the laundry room to trigger exhaust fans based on humidity, and they’ve performed exactly as I hoped. The humidity readings respond quickly to changes (like showers or dryer use), which makes automations feel responsive and practical rather than delayed.
I’ve also placed a few units around the house for general temperature monitoring. They’re compact, unobtrusive, and easy to position, so they blend in well without drawing attention.
Battery life has been solid so far, and the Z-Wave Long Range support is a nice bonus—especially for areas farther from the hub.
Overall, this is a dependable, well-designed sensor that works great for both automation and general environmental monitoring. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re building out a Z-Wave system.
This device seems to work fine inside, but it has been a poor choice as an outdoor temp sensor. I've had mine installed outside, under and eave, for 15 months. In that time, I've gone through 4 batteries despite the settings recommended by support team, the plastic has yellowed drastically, and the temp readings are way off. I've measured against 3 different thermometers, 1 of which is calibrated and NSF certified, and indoors, it's generally within a degree F, but outdoors, it varies drastically, +/- 5 F.
I will say that TheSmartestHouse has been very helpful in troubleshooting and I appreciate their support.
Installed these and connected to HA and fan automation for the kids kept forgetting to turn the fan on and off. Sensor detects sudden rise in humidity and fan on. 30 minutes later fan off. Works every time.
