Check your wiring first to confirm that you have all the following wires present in your electrical box: power, neutral, and the connection to the detector.
If you are not comfortable identifying the wiring and following the instructions, please hire a licensed electrician.
Here is an example diagram showing how to wire the ZEN55 to a smoke detector:

Sensor is easy to install if you can fit into your box. The Sensor paired with smartthings app and works well. It does not show what went off ie: smoke or c/o or which detector but it immediately informs you something in the system went off and you can follow up. Inexpensive option to know your detector went off when not home.
My battery-operated First Alert Z-Wave combo detectors recently started expiring, and with no good replacement available, I decided to install "dumb" interconnected smoke and smoke/CO combo detectors instead. I wired the entire house with over 250 feet of wire, covering 8 smoke detectors, 4 smoke/CO combo detectors, and 2 heat detectors across two levels. I then wired in the Zen55 bridge, installed the driver in SmartThings, and setup was a breeze.
The in-app reporting in SmartThings is nearly instant, and the peace of mind that comes with smart monitoring on a "dumb" system is priceless. With several home fires in my area recently, knowing I have near-instant alerts across significantly more detectors than before — and no batteries to constantly replace — helps me sleep easy.
The only minor hiccup was that the instructions included in the box were for the wrong sensor. Everything else was smooth, and shipping was fast. Thanks!
I have a chain of smoke and CO alarms across 3 levels of floor. After the easy 3 wire install, and the quick add to Home Assistant, I can now action any time any of them go off. I tested one on each floor just to be sure.
Seems to work well.
Easy to wire and setup into HA Z-wave JS.
