Connect the bypass between the light (load) and your Z-Wave dimmer to eliminate the flickering effect which may occur with incompatible LED drivers.
NOTE: Always turn the power off at the breaker when handling 120 V installations.
1. Connect the bypass according to the appropriate wiring diagram, making sure that your smart dimmer is already installed according to the instructions and fully functional.
2. Isolate all bare wires and/or terminal screws with electrical tape to minimize risk of accidental electrical short.
3. Carefully arrange the bypass and smart dimmer along with all wires back in the electrical box.
IN THE BOX:
I installed a number of Zen77 dimmers in a newly built house that has LED puck lights in the ceiling. Whenever I turned the lights on, with a ramp rate of 2 seconds to full brightness, they flickered wildly. The Zooz team suggested I try the Bypass Accessory, and that has made a huge difference. The lights still don’t dim on/off with the perfect smoothness I was used to in my old house (with Insteon dimmers and mostly incandescent bulbs) and at times (not always) they twinkle a little bit when ramping on or off — but the bypass dimmer accessory makes a HUGE difference and I can overlook the occasional twinkle. So, yes, great solution and a solid shout-out to the team at Zooz who patiently worked through this issue with me.
Hooked up the zoom bypass with my Zen 72 dimmer. The single LED ceiling light (a Nora lighting Cobalt 4 inch) still flickered when dimmed.
Flickering LED lights are a common problem - even so-called "dimmable" bulbs. This product solved it for me. Low cost, easy to install. No more flickering.
Worked great for my led bulbs.
