Check your wiring first to confirm that you have all the following wires present in your electrical box: power, neutral, and the connection to the detector.
If you are not comfortable identifying the wiring and following the instructions, please hire a licensed electrician.
Here is an example diagram showing how to wire the ZEN55 to a smoke detector:

Easy to wire and setup into HA Z-wave JS.
This sensor was added instead of getting all smart detectors in my wired setup.. One goes off, they all go off and now i get an alert if it happens I'm not home. Test it occasionally and still working well.
I really bought it so i could tell if the smoke detector is going off. I didn't even realize at the time it could tell the difference between smoke and a CO trigger with two separate reporting sensors.
I'm not sure why anyone would go with a questionable proprietary detector when you can get one of these and a more affordable smoke detector from an established brand.
Worked as advertised with a First Alert smoke/CO detector. But a bit hard to pair because of its small, recessed button. You have to press it 3 times — quickly! Very simple integration with Home Assistant.
Pretty easy to wire into existing hard wired smoke detectors with interconnect. It really only works as a contact sensor, so not able to trigger an automation that sets off the smoke detectors as a siren as I hoped I could. But in my opinion, the best way to have smart smoke/co detectors in your home is to have "dumb" hard wired, and physically interconnected wiring with a smart relay like this. It will also detect smoke and C/O independently.
