How It Works
Spend on prevention, save when disaster strikes. The Zooz Water Sensor reliably detects leaks and floods so that you can respond better and faster to leaky pipes and a boiler room immersed in water.
When paired with your Z-Wave gateway controller, receive instant notifications and alerts on your smart phone or computer, whether it’s a flood emergency or a low-battery alert. Connect the Water Sensor to other Z-Wave devices for advanced automation scenarios: trigger your Zooz Valve Control actuator to immediately shut off flow. Pair it with an alarm siren located on the main floor to ensure a fast response.
This Water Sensor is equipped with a flashing LED indicator to ensure awareness of an event, especially for those who are hearing impaired. It is Z-Wave Plus enabled for stronger connectivity and longer battery life. Two mounting options gives you choice and range, so that your sensor truly works for your smart home.
To include the Water Sensor into your Z-Wave network, bring it within direct range of your Z-Wave gateway controller. Carefully twist the cover open. Remove the plastic tab from the battery slot, activating the battery. The LED indicator will blink 5 times. On your Z-Wave controller, enter inclusion mode. Press and release the Z-Wave button on the Water Sensor 3 TIMES quickly (the Z-Wave button is located inside the device, next to the battery slot). The LED indicator will flash quickly, signaling a complete inclusion process. The new Water Sensor will appear on your controller’s device list.
You can choose to mount the Water Sensor on any horizontal or vertical flat surface. Mounting horizontally (by simply placing it on a flat surface) is a good option for spaces where you expect dripping and leaks rather than flooding. It can be the laundry room floor, or the kitchen/bathroom cabinet under the sink. For this type of mounting, you don’t need the external probe or mounting bracket. Be sure that the surface is truly flat and that all 3 foot probes are touching the surface.
Mounting the sensor vertically, on a wall above the ground, is a great option for monitoring larger leaks, floods, and water level. Once you’ve chosen the spot you want to monitor, like near water pipes in the basement, affix the mounting bracket to the wall using the included screw. Place the sensor into the bracket, fitting the foot probes into the round metal contacts. Plug the external probe into the sensor. Make sure it lays flat on the floor. Before finishing the installation, be sure to test the sensor for strong connectivity with your Z-Wave gateway controller.
