HOW IT WORKS
Ever heard of a home that responds to the weather? The Qubino Weather Station is equipped with 4 individual 433 MHz sensors that monitor and transmit live weather data to your Z-Wave gateway controller. The 2 included LCD-display thermo-hygrometers measure temperature and humidity. An anemometer measures all aspects of wind that you need to know: speed, chill, gust, and direction. And the rain sensor measures rate of rainfall. All sensors monitor and report battery levels.
The data is sent to a Weather Station USB Key which not only acts as a Z-Wave signal repeater, but relays all data to your Z-Wave controller for advanced home automation. For example, if the wind speed or rain rate exceeds a certain amount, automatically close your garage door. Program your smart home’s HVAC system to respond instantly to the outdoor temperature and humidity for more efficient indoor temperature regulation. With plenty of configuration parameters to work with, count on near endless possibilities for your smart home.
To automatically include your Weather Station Key to your Z-Wave network, first put your Z-Wave gateway controller into inclusion mode. Then connect the Key to a USB power supply, like a wall charger or computer. It should automatically ass to your Z-Wave network after 5 seconds.
Alternatively, include the Weather Station manually: put your Z-Wave gateway controller into inclusion mode. Then hold the service (S) button on the USB Key for 2 to 4 seconds. The new device will appear on your controller’s device list.
YOU SAID IT
We sent the Weather Station to Eric at Smart Life Automated. Here is what he thought about the device after testing it with his SmartThings hub:
Being unlike any other Z-Wave device I have used, it was a little intimidating to install the Qubino Weather Station. My hesitation was a unfounded, as it turned out to be pretty simple. The kit comes with all the hardware needed to mount the wind sensor to a round post.
There is something novel about having a personal weather station. Yes, one can rely on local weather reports, but it is really neat to be able to know the exact temperature, moisture, wind direction, wind speed, and wind velocity of the location of your home. Read full review here
