HOW IT WORKS
When we say this device is wireless, we mean it. Not only can this Ecolink device control your existing toggle switches without the need to rewire any switch involved, it enables your old switches with the wireless convenience of Z-Wave. Remotely control your traditional toggles with a tap of your smart phone and check on/off status of the switch anytime (once connected to your Z-Wave hub, of course).
In other words, automate the switches and bulbs you already know and love. Connect this Plug-In Module with other Z-Wave devices to create more elaborate rules and scenes. Trigger the switch “on” once your Z-Wave motion sensor detects someone walking through the threshold. Connect it with a Z-Wave contact sensor so that you can walk down dark basement stairs safely. Or simply create a schedule that turns your lights on/off at the times of your choice: a helpful scenario for the busy day-to-day life of a family, and also for stress-free vacations.
This module is built on Z-Wave Plus, which ensures longer range and faster connections. Its extended battery life makes this device reliable and hassle-free.
First, choose a location to install your module. It should be within established range of your Z-Wave controller, and the manual switch you want to control needs to be a toggle style.
Remove the switch plate cover of the toggle switch. Next, remove the cover of the Z-Wave module switch to reveal the electronics within. Then, with the included screws, replace the switch plate cover with the Z-Wave module switch. Do not close up the switch before you perform inclusion; you’ll need to access the inclusion button on the inside of the module first.
Once the module has been affixed securely to your toggle switch, you can include it to your Z-Wave network. Put your Z-Wave hub into inclusion/pairing mode. Press and release the inclusion/exclusion button on the inside of the module. Once successfully included, the LED indicator on the front of the module will turn off and the device will show up on your controller’s device list.
When it is installed and included, attach the last cover onto the Z-Wave module to finalize the installation process.
