COUPON ALERT: Buy any 2 Strips Sensors and Save 10% with coupon STRIPSDOUBLE
If you told us three different types of sensors could come in such compact, sleek hardware, we wouldn’t believe you! And yet here we are. The Sensative Strips Drip Sensor is the ultimate 3-in-1 device: it monitors leaks, temperature, and light. Once connected to your Z-Wave hub, enjoy nearly endless smart home applications via smart phone, computer, or tablet.
At 0.2", Strips is so sleek and inconspicuous you won’t even know it’s there. Install it in under-sink cabinets, below bathroom and kitchen fixtures, and in the most leak-prone part of your basement. With a range of over 130ft and a 10 year battery life, rest assured that Strips Drip is in touch at all times.
Not only is the sensor’s absorbant moisture pad quick to communicate leaks, but it tells you how much wetness it detects too. Easily set up advanced automations based on the device’s temperature and light monitoring abilities. Install it by pipes to monitor the ambient temperature through wintertime and prevent bursting and rapid floods. Pair Drip with other Z-Wave devices in your network for extra protection and convenience, like triggering a Z-Wave siren when water is detected in the boiler room.
NOTE: Strips features auto-inclusion mode so make sure to read instructions or watch the video below before you start unboxing!
To get started with your sensor, put your Z-Wave hub into inclusion/pairing mode. See your hub’s manual if you’re unsure how to initiate the inclusion process as each brand is different.
Next, choose a spot to install your sensor. Make sure it’s within solid range of your Z-Wave hub (and be sure to avoid placing it on or near metal elements). Bring the device within a few meters of that spot and remove the magnet. Your hub should automatically detect and include the sensor.
If the sensor displays in your device list and is reporting normally (check out the suggested range/configuration test in the manual), then you’re ready to mount the device. Remove the protective tape from the sensor’s adhesive. Mount the sensor on the mounting plate, making sure it’s on the side marked “Strips side.” Next, make sure the target surface is clean, flat, and dry. Remove the tape from the mounting plate and attach it to the target location. Finally, position the sensor so that the moisture detection pads will be able to soak up leaking water.
If you run into any issues during set-up, you can always reset your sensor and try adding it again. Here's how:
